Parker Washington is fantasy football’s Cedric Tillman for NFL Week 9

The Jaguars were not very lucky in the Week 8—this is the only verdict that is worth making here. In addition to the 45-7 defeat by the Packers they also dropped to 2-6 on the year and had a devastating week in terms of injuries sustained. When studying this availability by week, however, one has to wonder if there is a silver lining for Parker Washington due to significant wide receiver damage all around.

What went down

After taking Trevor Lawrence for $5,600 No. 1 overall the Jaguars attempted to bolster their offence through free agency, Christian Kirk and Gabe Davis for $5,000. They also signed a promising rookie, Brian Thomas Jr. with the highly draft pick for $6,600.

Unfortunately, on Sunday all three of those receivers got injured. Kirk was in and out during the game and will now be out for the rest of the season due to a broken collarbone. Thomas seems to have escaped serious injury as there were no signs of bone injuries based on the MRIs done to him. There were reports that Thomas could miss training for 2-to-4 weeks, however, according to the coach Doug Pederson, Thomas is day-to-day.

It remains unclear how severe Davis’s shoulder remains but for most part he has not played, even when healthy, this season. Over eight games he has scored 217 yards or 27.1 yards per game and has only scored more than 10 fantasy points in one game.

Parker Washington — how on can build him up

Despite the fact that Kirk may be back quickly for Thomas or Davis just the injury to Kirk is enough to create the opportunity for Washington. If Kirk is out from the game Thomas, Davis, or even both are done, then the ceiling for Washington will be even higher.

Washington was tied for the team lead in targets on Sunday against Green Bay and had three catches for 46 yards. He was the most used receiver with a 74% snaps and 46 receiving yards in that game, following a dismal three receptions 21 yards in the first seven games of the season.

Although Washington was not used that much this year, the team saw some promising signs of development in his rookie season last year. Originally they signed him, as a free agent but he was drafted in the sixth round by Jaguars from Penn State. Last year he had 16 receptions for 132 more yards and two touchdowns, he also had a reception in six of the final games.

This paper focuses on analysis of Washington’s Outlook in the future.

How busy Washington is going to be the rest of the season is still very much up in the air due to multiple injury prognostications. However, he should get an increased role to some extent It should also open door alittle to more the players with disability a game helping them get better. We saw a strong correlation with a Lawrence last year and we understand that coach Doug Pederson is going to keep on allowing Lawrence to chuck it up regardless of who is out on the field.

The most available to play in week 9 with Washington is $3,600 in DFS fantasy contests such as this NFL $2.75M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st]. He is also virtually universally available in season-long leagues since his role was so minimal before the rash of receiver injuries.

In Week 8, the cheapest options Cedric Tillman was only $4,300 if I, and he had a potential studs performance scoring 2 touchdowns, 99 yards and piled up 28.9 fantasy points. Taking over for the traded Amari Cooper ($5,800), and despite receiving only 10 targets in that game, he would take advantage of the extra work to factor into the fantasy equation moving forward. This week Washington could be well on that path and ready to post a win against the Eagles.

Over the next three weeks with their bye week coming after week 6 the Jags play the Eagles who are 5 th with 948 yards given to WRs and the Vikings who are tenth with 857 yards given to WRs and the Lions who have given 861 yards to WRs and they are eleventh. One of these is Tillman in this week’s DFS, as Washington finds itself in a prime position to deliver an outsized performance next week should its primary target be dinged up.

In season-long leagues, I had Tillman as a waiver wire add last week, if you didn’t get a chance and have too low priority to pick him this week, then Washington is one of the names that’s a prime candidate for the next big thing at the receiver position.
