Introducing The Athletic’s College Football Playoff Bracket Challenge

We are just days away from the first release of the College Football Playoff selection committee’s rankings for the 12-team playoff brackets on Tuesday, November 5. Finishes expectations for the teams and fan bases in the chase is off the roof as this will be a busy and colorful month of football until the final list of teams eligible for the play-offs will be declared on Sunday December Eight.

To make sense of it all and to get a little bold with predictions, join us with David Ubben, Ralph Russo and Damien Harris this upcoming Monday at 6 p.m. ET LIVE on the Until Saturday YouTube channel and our social feeds. We will be having a little fun and not merely discussing the teams we think are going to be in the top 12 of the first rankings but flipping our predictions forward to who we think will make the final field on Dec. 8 with a bracket challenge.

And what’s even more fun? All of YOU, readers, are asked to predict the first ever College Football Playoff Bracket Challenge with a chance for the winners of the three highest scores to win a free year subscription or extension to The Athletic (the terms to be specified in the form).

How does it work? This is your chance to enter for who you believe the final 12 teams will be when the College Football Playoff selections are made on Dec. 8. We will keep a simple scoring system:

  • 1 point for each team you get in the field
  • Notably, the author was awarded 3 points for getting a team in the field in the right seed.
  • Tiebreaker: Predict the number of total points scored in the SEC Championship game
  • Second Tiebreaker: Standing: Clemenger: 34 – accoding to his hers prediction DeWall: 28 – not taking into consideration his hers observations of the 10 Big Championship game Advertisement DeWaal: 28 without basing it on his hers analysis of the 10th Championship Big game Clemenger: 34
