Mike Tyson is frankly the boxing legend who is coming back to the ring in November, 15 in the state of Texas against Jake Paul, and he has explained exactly why
Mike Tyson has, more evidently, stated that the primary reason for fighting YouTuber- newly turned-boxer Jake Paul is the fame.
The former undisputed heavyweight world champion has not competed in any competitive bout since 2005 when he was knocked out by Kevin McBride. After that match, ‘Iron Mike’ took hissy fit announcing retirement immediately after the fight through a post-match interview, which has since gone viral once more as fans wait for his fight against ‘The Problem Child’.
Tyson did take part in an exhibition fight against another former world champion, Roy Jones Jr, four years ago, but there were question marks over his physical fitness before the bout with Paul, who is 31 years younger.
These worries were pronounced when sixty-eight-years old had to pull out of the original match because of an ulcer flare. Doctors told him to stop training and he recently has gone back to the gym.
Paul and Tyson are expected to fight on November 15 at the AT&T Arena in Arlington Texas. ‘The Problem Child’ enters the bout on the back of a knockout win over Mike Perry in July.
Paul, who has a career record of 10-1, only lost his debut professional fight to Tommy Fury in November last year.
Fundamentally, the upcoming event that will be aired live on Netflix will be viewed by millions of people all over the world. More than eighty thousand fans are expected to be present at the fight between these two fighters.
Part of the ticket sales that Tyson contributed to made him to decided to go for the 27 year old. In a recent interview with talkSPORT, when asked about his motivation to fight now, ‘Iron Mike’ responded: “[I’m] 58. I am going to box in the largest stadium ever and the place will be packed, and only who can do that ‘?
When questioned about what it means to sell out such a large stadium in the States, he said: It makes me feel like it requires me to act on whatever I am proclaiming to believe I am capable of doing. They are lending me all that inspiration to tell me that ‘oh boy, you’ve got to perform tonight’. It’s time to perform”.
