The Keyshawn Davis v Gustavo Lemos bout is still scheduled to happen the second time when they attend the official weigh-in on Friday in the morning. Gustavo Lemos, who had initially made concerns by not hitting the weight amount, weighed in at 144.6 in this second height.
This weight is legal according to Virginia Boxing Advisory Board regulations which allows a fighter to come with an additional 10 pounds in addition to the weight of the division.
Thursday, at the first weigh-in Lemos had tipped the scales at 141.4 pounds which is 6.5 pounds over the imposed weight of 135 pounds. This led to an uproar with the spectators that began to boo the Argentine boxer.
He told the court that he had training problems and made use of his own weight, which he says was higher than the one of 89 kg indicated by the scale.
Keyshawn Davis also took the decision though he was 5 inches shorter than Colon and had failed to make the weight that he agreed upon. Davis, considered one of the most promising young talents in boxing, showed his professionalism by stating:
“I was happy, I’m the one getting paid more money (due to the fine Lemos will have to pay for missing weight). The show must go on.”
The bout between Keyshawn Davis and Gustavo Lemos will be anumber of twelve rounds, it will be for the title of the International Boxing Federation world lightweight.
This fight will happen at The Scope located in Norfolk, Virginia on Friday, night, 8th of November.
Main bout and co-main event will be streamed live on ESPN+.
This fight is a good chance for Keyshawn Davis since he competes with Gustavo Lemos, who is definitely his worthy opponent. More so, Lemos will be seeking to defy the weigh-in issue and give a performance to watch in America knowing he is under pressure after a slip to protocal.
