In the final weekend of the Southwest Wyoming Middle School Girls Basketball Conference Tournament on December Thursday, 12 the tournament focal was for the team to score the most points.
The seventh-grade teams competed at Rock Springs High School/ The eighth-grade teams competed at Rock Springs Junior High.
RSJH 8th grade girls are defeated Green River 27-12 and placed third in the early rounds of the tournament.
RSJH 8th grade girls basketball coach Fred Bath argued that it was teamwork that saw them triumph in the game. He also said all athletes trained for the tournament, eagerly waiting for the big day.
They all contribute in doing their tasks, said Bath of his players.
The following schools participated: Davis Middle School located in wyoming are: Star Valley, Rock Springs, Green River, Rawlins, Jackson, Mountain View and Rich.
The current eighth-grade team, according to Anthony Lott, the interim activities director of the school, was the winner of the tourney last year.
Overall, What could have been a great victory for the Jaguars 7th grade team which less than one point away from becoming the champion of the championship. They performed poorly in the tournament 29-30. The top three in the 7th grade category are as follows:
- 1st place Rich County
- 2nd place Rock Springs
- 3rd place Star Valley
The Jaguars 8th grade team did all that they could. By popular vote they won the championship with a score of 36-24. The top three in the 8th grade category are as follows:
- 1st place Rock Springs
- 2nd place Rich County
- 3rd place Star Valley
