Former NBA All-Star Runs Onto Court To Hold Back Daughter During Major High School Basketball Fight

The final few seconds for a girls’ high school basketball game in Seattle descended into chaos and Brandon Roy, a former NBA All-Star, ran onto the court to try to restrain his daughter.

West Seattle High School and Garfield High School are virtually neighbors; therefore, it would be safe to describe them as traditional cross town foes. All the disgust any two programs had for each other was well shown just before the fulltime siren.

After that, Garfield’s guard dribbled the time out to record an 11-point victory on the road, a West Seattle player attempted to strip the ball from the guard. Having failed to come up with the ball, she proceeded to push the Garfield guard and the latter threw the ball at the West Seattle player whom multiple punches from both side’s bench ensued.

But as referees on the floor could not intervene a few second later, all the coaches and parents ran into the field to make the best effort to calm everybody down. One of those parents was the notorious Roy, the man who forced his daughter Mariah, the no.3 in the clip, to take a shot at her opponent as if she had a punch.

To date, no official announcement concerning any suspension has been forthcoming from the program or the school district.

Roy the former sixth overall pick for the 2006 NBA draft, is the head coach of the Garfield boys’ team, though he has taken an in and out stint since the season of 2017. The 40 year old was an NBA All-Star for three consecutive years from 2008 to 2010 while in Portland Trail Blazer after which he played for the Minnesota Timberwolves during the previous 2012/2013 season.
