Nakisa Bidarian, the promoter of YouTuber and boxer Jake Paul has not ruled out the chance of his business partner facing Canelo Alvarez during an interview. Mike Tyson’s next opponent is to be ‘Problem Child’ after the duel this month.
The fight was heavily criticised within the boxing world partially because of the age difference between both fighters was 30 years. Finally, Paul, 27, claimed victory over Tyson, 58, in the Netflix-backed event as the judges elected to stop the fight after eight rounds in AT&T Stadium.
The bout winner, now 12 times a professional fighter, has his next goal on challenging the Mexican giant Canelo, somewhere down the line. Now, MVP co-founder Bidarian has commented on the prospect as he did not dismiss the potential bout between the two.
After staging the 10th most-watched sporting event as Paul fought Tyson, Badarian appeared confidently on the “The Ariel Helwani Show”. He said: And we just did the biggest event since the birth of cable for fight sports, right?
‘So no matter what fighter you are, you have to look at that and say, ‘That’s a pretty special moment.’ ‘That is quite a special platform,’ he added. Jake needs Canelo in the financial aspect nor even from a belt aspect because even if they were going to fight they wouldn’t be fighting for the belts Canelo possesses.
‘Jake Paul doesn’t even need Canelo to make money himself to, as he went on, before venturing into speculations. To me there are a few things I want to put across if that fight was to happen. I think there must be a longing to get that attention once more for this beautiful sport called boxing.
The world should be able to look at it and say, ‘Wow, boxing is really back’ and bring other fighters into the focal point there to help popularize the sport as we did for this [Paul vs. Tyson]. The challenge will not be funds, it’s going to be; oh there is much money in that fight. The stak is for both sides to know why they are really doing it if they happen to do it.”
Before his fight with Tyson, during the interview with Timbo Sugar Show, Paul has admitted that he wants to face Canelo. He said: Fighting Canelo at 200 pounds for the cruiserweight championship of the world is the biggest fight monumentally even bigger than the fight against Tyson.
