Five takeaways from the Kansas City Chiefs defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football

There are a lot to sort out from the Chiefs’ overtime victory.

It’s not that the defending back to back Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs are dominating teams and crushing them. It is more that they continue to operate how to create victories for themselves.

Monday Night Football was just that as the Chiefs emerged with a 30-24 over time victory and currently standing at 8-0.

There is a lot to dissect here, so here are five points from DAZN on the chiefs’ win in OT.

Patrick Mahomes is a man who seems unstoppable and nothing provokes him.

Although Mahomes rolled to his right and earning time before launching a fourth quarter touchdown pass to Samaje Perine, his ankle was hurt.

Seeing him limping on one leg and having to be assisted off the pitch brought the Arrowhead Stadium breathing back to normal.

But the star quarterback was not beaten and once more demonstrated his stiff upper lip after leaving the Chiefs medical tent, he came back running for the fans, which enjoyed the sight.

They say he had a rolled ankle but this man would help the Chiefs create two scoring drives which included the game winning drive in OT. This Super Bowl champion no longer gets nervous and he continues to create more and more of his already impressive legend.

Mahomes, Chiefs excelled in the third down conversion

All in all, the deciding factor for the Chiefs’ overtime win Monday night was on third-down.

Combined, they changed teams 11-of-15 third downs, which is a 73 percent rate. In those confines he was 11 of 13 passing on third, and all four of Kansas City’s scores came from that down.

May have been one of the most perfect shows I have seen from the Chiefs.

DeAndre Hopkins plays insane against one-on-one coverage

Hopkins in 1-on-1 coverage is a threat that Mahomes loves having a big target on the other end of the connection.

The veteran wideout caught eight of nine targets for 86 yards and added two scores Monday night and that was just the 32-year-old doing his thing.

Hopkins was a good get by the Chiefs who are aiming for the ultimate NFL record of three straight Super Bowl wins.

Both of Hopkins’ touchdowns were his first and second with the chiefs. Well, from the appearance he gives it seems like he’s only just beginning his spree.

Kareem Hunt was possessed on the ground
When the Chiefs were down by 7, 17-10 in the third quarter, Hunt began running like a possessed man.

The final damages: 205 total yards from scrimmage, including the game-winning touchdown from 27 rushes — the majority of those done in the second half.

His physical, plowing rushing style generates edge pressure forcing the box defenders to be truthful concerning passing lanes for Mahomes.

Not to mention, staying on the ground helps the Chiefs drain the clock. The Chiefs got into the end zone twice in the fourth quarter, all it took was about 15 plus minutes of clock time for both TD drives of the team, mainly because of Hunt’s performance.

Todd Bowles could very well be kicking himself for not going for the win
You never want to give Patrick Mahomes a opportunity . Todd Bowles did and it cost the Buccaneers.

When Baker Mayfield connected with Ryan Miller for a touchdown on the last play of the game to give the Browns a 10-play 71 yard drive Buccaneers head coach got a clock moving chance to tie the game with an extra point or get the win with a two-point conversion.

He decided on the former and the Bucs levelled the score.

While Mahomes and the Chiefs were forced to a three and out toward the end of regulated, they would winthe OT coin toss deciding to receive it.

Mahomes would then lead the champs on a 10-play, 70 yard march to set up the Chiefs for the win.

Of course, there will be critics who say you’ve got to tie the game in a situation like that and point toward the safer XP. However, siting my stand in what I feel should be done, I don’t consider that a coin toss on overtime determine one’s future. I wish the Bucs had gone for the two-point conversion as they took the momentum with the touchdown in the process.
