‘Jumanji 3’ Lands 2026 Holiday Release From Sony

The cast of Jumanji is going back to the jungle.

It finally arrived, Jumanji 3 was revealed by Sony Pictures to be shot in the theaters on December 11, 2026. Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and R lbl, who are a part of the main cast of the first two films, are expected to reprise their roles, as is director Jake Kasdan, who was also working on the second film.

The film to be released in IMAX and premium large format is produced by Johnson, Kasdan, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia and Matt Tolmach.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle came to theaters in December of 2017 and grossed over $950 million in the global box office. A sequel came out in 2019 and it went over $801 million worldwide.

Welcome to the Jungle was based on group of teenage friends who find themselves inside an actual video game with set of adult characters. It was inspired by the 1981 children’s novella by Chris Van Allsburg, but also from the 1995 feature film directed by Joe Johnston starring Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst and David Alan Grier.

In an interview with the Hollywood reporter earlier this year Gillan said making everything fit for the new one was not easy.

“Of course it must be hard to manage everyone’s availability but other than being told that it will happen some time I have heard nothing else,’ she remarked at the time. And that is the reason for such enthusiasm: So we are all so enthusiastic about it. Everyone likes making those kind of movies and it is just a question of when.”

In the interview for Virgin Radio, published online in the beginning of the autumn of 2022, Johnson stated that he was ‘looking forward to making the third movie’ noting that Kasdan was ‘working on the script at the moment’. Johnson also hinted that the new movie could possibly be the end to this version of the saga.

“Jake has a very, very special cool idea that for Jumanji 3 — could be the finale,” Johnson said at the time. But in the spirit of that it is unique. I’ll just say that.”
